Adding a Custom Marker

            The process is the same for adding a custom open house marker, a custom event marker, or a custom garage sale marker. 

  • Register with the site.
  • Login.
  • Go to the page corresponding to the marker you want to add, by clicking on the link to “add open houses”, “add garage sales”, or “add events”.
  • Enter your marker information.  Be sure to enter the date or dates, as undated markers will be deleted.  Markers will be removed after all of their dates have expired.
  • Check your marker placement next.  This is important as your marker could be close to where it needs to be, but in the wrong location. This will confuse your map users.  Your marker placements are verified by first going down on the page to the table that lists your markers.  In the leftmost column labeled “click date to edit marker”, click on the date and it takes you to the “edit your marker page”.
  • Here, you can first edit any of the information that you created for your markers.
  • Next, refine your marker placement.  You do this by going to the map on the bottom of the page, and dragging the marker to the exact location where you want it to be.  When you are satisfied with its position, you MUST CLICK “SAVE MY CHANGES”, or your marker placement will not update and will remain incorrect.
  • This edit page also gives you the option to delete the marker.
  • Return to the home page of the site, and do a search to check that your markers are correct.  Click on the marker itself, or the label to the right of the map to check the information inside the infowindow that accompanies your marker, and verify its accuracy.
  • That is all there is to it!
